Meet Our Staff

Carla Medeiros, Kindergarten Teacher

Carla Medeiros has been an educator at Studley Elementary School since 2005. She began her educational journey teaching grades one and three. She later taught in the English Language Learners Newcomer’s program for a few years and has been in kindergarten for over 10 years now. She absolutely loves the energy, joy, and enthusiasm for learning that the students bring into school each day. They are eager to share their curiosity and creativity with us, and it’s especially rewarding to see how much they learn from one another each year.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Rhode Island College and her Master's of Education from American International College. During her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, taking nature walks, reading, gardening, interior decorating, caring for pets, and spending time with friends and family.

Mrs. Kushner, Art Teacher

Kara Kushner is the Art teacher at Studley. She lives with her husband of 19 years and her two sons, Nathan (16) and Brayden (12). She likes to draw, paint, exercise, and travel to new places in her free time. She is currently working on completing her master's degree and is excited to try new methods she has learned along the way.

Margaret Duran, Instructional Paraprofessional

This is Mrs. Duran's first year at Studley. She believes all children deserve the necessary attention to help them reach their learning ability and be successful. She enjoys helping students reach their potential.

Prior to joining Studley, she was in the financial services industry for over twenty years. She left the industry after giving birth to her daughter to be there for her and watch her grow. During her school years, she volunteered at her school whenever possible. Volunteering helped her realize she wanted to be in the school system helping students. She became an elementary school librarian and continued that for 11 years. She truly enjoys helping students find books that pique their interest and watching the joyous expressions when they realize they can read. She has also been a kindergarten paraprofessional during the Covid period when the school library was closed. She loved working with individual students and is looking forward to continuing the same at Studley.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, baking, photography, and hiking.
