Title I Spotlight

Title I reading groups have been very busy learning how to blend sounds to read words.

The students are rhyming, changing beginning and ending sounds to make new words, using their decoding skills when reading, and practicing with sound/spelling cards. In addition to reading our “little books”, we are spelling words daily in our spelling journals. We also have fun practicing our sight words by playing games. The fourth graders have been reading and responding to text. Also, they have been practicing their reading fluency with short, high interest passages. They time themselves reading for 1 minute and graph their scores. Reading with your child 20 minutes everyday and practicing sight words can have a big impact on their reading success. Enjoy your winter break!
